About the 109, he wasn't catching up to you at all. You were gaining altitude on him the whole time, it's just that you were flying straight enough that he got some shots at you before he had to dip back down. Usually what you want to do in that situation is make an upwards corkscrew, which makes it harder for him to get guns on you.
said the same thing in a post earlier, i played ALOT of air rb and can confidently tell you that spookton basically flew right into the dudes guns, he only had to pull the trigger. Had he literally gone in an other direction he wouldn't have been shot

I love intercepting cas because they always expect to just bomb someone with little to no opposition so often they leave their gaurd down
Also helps most of them are picking aircraft that can’t dog fight worth a damn.

that's me when I tried to play as dedicated SPAA for a day
To be fair, spook was on US team which are notorious for absolutely cracked CAS loadout like the F6F with like two 1000 lb and 6 HVAR or the P-61 with four of those bombs while other nation with similar fighter just stuck with a single 250kg or 500kg on Fw190 and two 250kg for IL-10.

Though German has a lot of different things that are just cracked as well. Mostly at a slightly higher Br than what spook was playing at.
Then Russia just has blatantly better aircraft despite their aircraft not being as good as the game says they are by miles
@@aiedenoldstien9751 Apart from the PE-8 and IL-2, Russian CAS is pretty mediocre. The PE-8 only works because big fucking bomb and the IL-2 is only good because it can take so much punishment that you can basically just place your bombs on top of enemy tanks, and the IL-2 was known for being incredibly tough
this is my preferred way of playing planes in war thunder since i'm not a huge fan of air rb. the lack of markers for enemies and the map being much smaller makes the dogfighting experience much better in ground rb imo.

Anti CAS has become one of my favorite things do, particularly during events when CAS can be infuriating at times. The A6M5 ko and J6k1 are my go to planes purely because they are a perfect fit in GRB imo. Plus, I used to think anti-cas was a thankless job, but there were a few times during the summer event where I got a couple of thank yous from teammates, which is a nice dopamine hit

Are you sure you're thankful? I drive R3s, Italian Wirbelwinds, Wirbelwinds and L-62s and don't remember shooting down planes in the last few dozens of matches.
The He-162 excels in a anti CAS role, the early Japanese planes armed with .50cals are also worth bringing out at higher BRs
It just shows how Spookston has played for a REALLY long time when he can identify a plane while it looks like 2 pixels on screen

@@nickmurphy4209Wait. Hold on a minute. Did i see "APCR" and "somewhat useful" in the same sentence? Did they buff the APCR? When i spaded my PT-76 (before the reload buff) it had stock APCR and it was absolutely painful. I used APCR in the past, but it absolutely loves to ricochet. So i rely mostly on APHE to do the work.
The reason why the Bf 109 was able to keep up with you in that climb was because you weren't far enough away to get away from him. If you do this again, or if anyone here finds themselves in that situation, extend horizontally for a bit before climbing back up or you'll be slow within range of your bandit's guns.

love the F6F with the wing-mounted radar for this. as long as you take a second to sweep the enemy spawn you can always let your team know when CAS is coming in, and you get the tiny tims as well, 10/10

hearing spookton talk about plane performance, is like hearing a bear talk about hunting with a gun, he knows abit about it but hes also missing a few key parts.
Speaking of American 57mm, the SU57 (Tier 1 Russia) is armed with it along with deceptively good mobility and rear drive speeds. I'd love to see you try it out.

I really recommend the Chaika, the machine guns are great and its able to turn on a dime, the autocannon version is also fantastic but its a biplane so its slow and extremely fragile but great for Anti Air

I fucking LOVE the chaika. Easily my favorite premium plane. Being able to outmaneuver almost anything in the air and then annihilate them once you get your guns on target is amazing.

Hey, just a few recommendations for CAP. You want to be in a position where you place yourself above the enemy planes when they spawn and between their spawn and the ground map. This allows you to decide the fight before they can climb and build energy whilst also allowing for multiple interception opportunities before it reaches the field. I use feet and the altitude used varies between map to map but about 2000-2500 Meters usually works. Also, the spitfire MkIIb is surprisingly good a BR 5.3.

For ultimate anti-CAS plane spawning on Ground RB I'd go with the P39/P63 and the F4Us on the American lineup. People do make a killing on the F6F but I've never been able to do anything much on them.

The runescape magic meme re-awoken my PTSD of having to run through the wildy and getting teammed by a bunch of ice barrage spammers and rangers back in the day.
I've wondered for a while now how a game mode where you chose either plane or tank to begin with and every team is like 2/3rds tanks 1/3rd planes both spawn in at the same time. Would make the air part of the ground battles so much more consistent.
Maybe something like the enlisted spawn system where spawn points for planes are shared across the team with a set upper limit, maybe 2-3 total, maybe have it so losing team can get more/better bombs to try and turn the tide
The could always make a combined arms mode that does this and completely remove air from the ground entirely.
Giving ground players who play exclusively tanks somewhere to go while people who want the experience of air and ground a place to be
@aiedenoldstien9751 yeah but I'm guessing warthunder doesn't want to keep spilting the playerbase between modes more rn we got like 7 different modes and then u gonna account matchmaking with the different Brs yeah it's alot of splitting hell some modes are dead in higher ranks like arcade
@doomguy.23frommars60 They have 6 modes excluding the pve, Sim, squadron modes, and event modes. To be honest, the game would have plenty of players to fill the mode if Gajin would stop making stupid decisions.
To be honest we can also exclude naval from list since no one really likes that mode. (I say this in a semi-joke sense.) Though more people go to World of Warships I'd they want boats.

I almost exclusively spawn as a fighter to counter enemy planes. In fact, Ground RB is a better environment for a lot of planes that are terrible in Air RB, like the sea venom and vampire, since there aren't any markers.
I love the inclusion of the call at the end, it was so funny
Tip: If you see a Pe-8 that's already dropped its FAB-5000 and the bomb is within shooting distance, shoot the bomb first. You can always circle for the bomber later. Better to have more teammates on the ground contesting for cap points.
There is nothing better than bringing an A7M when playing 5.0-6.7 Japan. Those Type 99 20mm's vs CAS is so therapeutic.
Something like the Bt-7A could be a nice video. Decently fast, decent gun, light tank and pintel mg.

Ground RB is unironically just a more compact and fun air RB where targeting bombers is not only optimal but morally correct.
Could you try the 6.0 French Wombo Combo? Using the worst TD (ELC bis) paired with the best CAS prop (F4U-7 with SNEBs). There’s such a culture shock going from a painful tank to such a fun plane.

He had very similar energy as you did when you engaged him because he has tons of excess power.
He was able to maintain his energy during the fight by not pulling too many G's (except at some key moments) and using his excess power to make up for energy lost during turns.
Meanwhile you lost a lot of energy.
For example at 6:00 you're in a lead pursuit. He tightens his turn and you respond by tightening as well. Then you pull up and over, pulling up to 9G, which bled your energy. He lost energy too, but he has more excess power to make up for it, resulting in the both of you having similar energy.
Looking at it again, he did have less energy throughout, but he bled your energy enough that you couldn't outrun him in the vertical fast enough. He didn't "keep up" that's just cope

As someone who enjoys getting into fighters and killing CAS, the respect given at the start of the video is an absolute win

I love taking out something like a Yak-3 and proceeding to completely deny the airspace to bf 109s, fw 190s, do 335s, he 111s, me 410s, me 262s, arados, ho 229s, P-51s, Corsairs, and p-47s. You legitimately help your team more by keeping the skies clear than any attempt at ground pounding.

CAPs are always a blessing to have on your team in grb
Attach a automatic drumloader to a flak gun, put some armor resilient to most things a footman soldier can carry (even a M1 Bazooka or a RPG-2), put that armored yet still sitting duck flak gun as a turret onto something that has a running gear not composed of tire wheels (ejem... caterpillar tracks), and attach to the main gun some autocannons (20 mm for faster RPM and have spare of it: maybe at least 3 autocannons stick together at the main armament). Then u have it, a mobile plane vaporizer.

I have been playing top tier and just capping a base and then scouting until I can respawn in air superiority fighters, F-16 vs mig-27s and yak-141 vs f16 and a10 spam. It’s my favorite gameplay loop been doing it for about a year.
