Okay that does it, :Re is just despair porn and I honestly don't understand how this is supposed to be enjoyable. I felt especially sick to my stomach after Hazuki presented the heads of the Squad 0 kids. They deserved better than that. It's not even the off screened fight that I'm complaining about. If Kaneki ended up winning, I'd be all for it. I mean, the entire reason why I stuck with it thus far is because I thought his suffering would end after he reached some sort of resolution by defeating Arima and marrying Touka. This is just... wow |

Seriously I don't get why people actually like the way this series is going. I don't need a mc who always win, I liked how TG is dark in season 1. But c'mon right now kaneki should be way stronger and in control of his kakuja mode, that's why he is 'king'. Why is he losing to 2 puny humans again. Ever since :Re started the quality of this manga fare in comparison to the first. Plot is confusing at times, art is messy and I can't even tell who is who 3/4 of the time. For example this chapter those 2 beheaded heads, who are they gosh.. really disappointed if ishida just ends it due to burnout, which I suspect he is. :RE 's rating to me now is even lower than elfen lied's sob story. |

Jujigata said: I think Ishida is portraying true despair in these panels. We see Kaneki feeling confident, ready to go into battle, seemingly learning from the mistakes of his path, wanting.. change. And what are we conditioned to expect? Kaneki going in, saving the day, dramatic verbal exchanges, albeit a tad bit too idealistic. Maybe he has to make tough decisions, maybe he makes the wrong ones, maybe all he gets are more regrets to revisit in his nightmares. Well, but what this chapter asserts that, is that even that.. is a luxury. You know the choices you had. You know how you fell. You understand how the events transpired, be it for better or worse. But no. Reality is grim. Reality does not owe you an explanation. Many people complain that this is bad storytelling. But reality doesn't make for a good story. Reality is wholly out of man's control, or even an organization for that matter. It will never relent, eventually throwing you off, not because it wants to, but because it just unfeelingly will. What do you guys feel about this chapter? Frustrated? Then it is because you know not of which this chapter signifies. In short, you have never despaired. The unfamiliarity of this concept irks you, and the uneasiness turns to rage. Maybe you have felt sad once, a bit under the weather. But you have never felt the unfairness of this world, spitting into your face against your best efforts. That powerlessness. Kaneki tried his best to control his fate, to get stronger, to effect his idea of justice, making the wrong parts of this world right. And after an entire season, what he has to show for it is a defeat which he doesn't even earn the right to understand. This chapter in my opinion is beautiful, as it is painfully real. Ishida might be lazy, no doubt, losing his touch as some might add, but wouldn't his lacklustre attitude towards writing this chapter personify his own despair? That cold smack of reality that puts Ishida in his place everytime he tries, and he attempting to express it in the form of an off-screen defeat for us. Maybe Ishida is a sad man, and a genius mangaka for that matter. Lol this is some of the most pretentious shit I've ever heard. You could certainly write realistic shit and tell a great, engaging story without falling into some of the pitfalls Ishida has. Troves of books or mangas have done this. You also don't need to have suffered some great tragedy in your life to be able to comprehend the story. Empathy is thing. |

Who think Kaneki just lost against Suzuya don't forget that he doesn't kill humans. He never did and even now fought with this in mind. Also I am pretty sure the mentioned "Dragon" was the one that defeated him, cos I don't know why else would Ishida taken his memories and Furuta obviously wanted to use it as soon as possible. |

Offscreening battles & kills left and right, Suzuya doning that plot armor along with Hanbee, nuking the hype train on Kaneki's power and basically wrecking the entire ghoul community. I honestly don't see how the next chapter can improve the quality now. Either gonna have to do a miraculous save (with Ayato & Hide+Urie?), end it there killing everyone or make the classic suck-on-this-flashback-chapter. As long as Touka+baby, Hinami and Kaneki are safe though, I'm good. |

Ishida could literally draw 16 panels of shit and people would still eat it up and praise the deep symbolism hidden within the pages. At least we got some spicy tragedy am I right? Who gives a shit if we've been over this in the first manga. That Eto and Arima have thrown their life's away for the King to do nothing but sit on his ass and let his subjects get slaughtered and starve to death until he decided to do something about it. That Kaneki's character development just got reset to stage 1? Over 200 chapters and the man boiled down to the same mistakes as those in part 1. But at least we have Furuta's ebin reaction faces xDDDD. Fuck me. Never would I have imagined that I would start drawing similarities between TG and Bleach's writing. |

SO whose head is the one that was cut off and presented in front of limbless Kaneki? tbh idk who is who anymore since the art really change so much since the original TG Also the story really goes downhhill now. I just read them for the sake of reading, dont really feel excited or shock since this is just stupid as hell. All the potential story plot were presented and instead of exploring to these more interesting plot, he decided to just use "tragedy" as a shock value. Though I can barely feel shock anymore since the author done this so many times |

First off!!!!!!!!! WTF, chapter 142 to 143 makes no sense at all!!!!!!!!!!! First off he was no where near his base. second Jouzoo just walks up and says im here to kill you???? what happened to the idea of taking touka as bait???? What kind of budget cut does it take to do this to your own series???? Pathetic Ishida, just pathetic. Kaneki is not the hot headed type anyway there is no way this isnt a bull s**t chapter. Second when do we meet Arata!!!!!! i mean seriuosly why dont we see those to fight..........third full kaukja form??? as if this chapter blew so bad lol Fourth in chapter 141 wasnt the buearu chief fired by the ccG? none of this makes any sense what so ever !!!!!!!! this has to be what Furuta wished would happen |

Damn. When I started reading TG, there were already 50+ chapters of :re out, so when I reached the original's ending I already knew it had a sequel and didn't have to live those insecure times when TG ended and people didn't know if it was for real, if there was gonna be a sequel, if that was it etc. Now I'm on Ishida's wild ride with the uncertainty of what comes now. Now, obviously this is not the end of the story because then those few chapters giving the spotlight to Scarecrow and recently revealing that he is Hide, Furuta mentioning Dragon and still not showing it, Ayato's trip to the underground city to find the OG One-eyed King... it would all be a waste. But I just hope :re really doesn't end now and that we don't get another sequel with another timeskip because using the same formula everytime gets tiring. |

"Believing in someone." That's a weird phrase, isn't it? After all, if you truly believed in a person, you wouldn't need to say, "I believe you." It's like saying, "I believe in air." I don't mean to say that "believing in something" is like a lie. "Believing" is really a term of hope of wanting to believe. |

Oh my god, this chapter had me laughing the whole time. Guess it shows how much interest i have lost in this series since the first few chapters of Re. It sucks that Kaneki was defeated off screen, and i don't really care anymore if he dies as i am just interested in seeing what "Hide" and Furuta achieve in the end, but what the hell is going on with his injures? Don't see any reason they would turn him into a nugget instead of just straight up killing him. Like how the hell does he lose both arms and legs in a deathmatch against Juuzuo? |

On TG the great question before "is kaneki dead" was "did kaneki eat hide?" He seems to have answered that question, just gotta figure if it's a faceless Hideki or something else Also lots of new content, explanation on Arima's origin. Our Aizen is dead. The storytelling is extremely subtle, and without a solid grasp of theoretical physics most of the plot will go over a typical reader's head. There's also Kaneki's nihilistic outlook, which is deftly woven into his characterisation - his personal philosophy draws heavily from Narodnaya Volya literature, for instance. The fans understand this stuff; they have the intellectual capacity to truly appreciate the depths of these chapters, to realize that they're not just funny- they say something deep about LIFE. As a consequence people who dislike Tokyo Ghoul: Re truly ARE idiots- of course they wouldn't appreciate, for instance, the humour in Kaneki's existential catchphrase "No. It's fine," which itself is a cryptic reference to Turgenev's Russian epic Fathers and Sons I'm smirking right now just imagining one of those addlepated simpletons scratching their heads in confusion as Ishida's genius unfolds itself on their pages. What fools... how I pity them. :joy: And yes by the way, I DO have a Tokyo Ghoultattoo. And no, you cannot see it. It's for the ladies' eyes only- And even they have to demonstrate that they're within 5 IQ points of my own (preferably lower) beforehand. |

jeez with some of this excuses. This is a bad chapter plain and simple, it has shitty development and it's the exact same situation that we were in at the end of the original. Anyone that is trying to still find some shred of reasoning or justification to this it has become too delusional. I said it awhile and i will say it again Ishida is not a genius writer, he has been recicleying the exact same formula throughout the course of all of Re in a desperate atempt to make everything seem more "tragic" by contatly resorting to shock value. This does not make the story more realistic, switching the order of events does not make the plot seem more convoluted, offscreaning important battles is not a excuse for sybolism, and having the mc always lose is not something innovative is just bad writting. |

I'm still trying to figure out if I'm going to start reading this series again after dropping it, the fact that I'm at the latest chapter discussion getting spoiled, just shows that I've lost interest in this series. I didn't know shounen manga means rainbow and sunshine, and also a manga being dark or being publish in a seinen magazine doesn't mean its writing is good. have you ever taken a look at the seinen list on mal? They aren't all tragedy and dark, the same can be said about shounen series. You saying tokyo ghoul is not a shounen magazine therefore it is good and must be dark, is the equivalent of someone saying a series is mature just because it has a lot of gore in it. @loli_a_ravioli I'm in the same boat as you, it is so annoying. I look at a few youtube review on this chapter and look at the comment section, and all I see is people saying, stuff like '' stick to your shounen manga, this is a seinen! it is suppose to be dark!'' -_- Reminds me of when I first watch elfin lied when I was young, and thought it was a mature series because of all the gore. That is what those comments remind me of, myself when I was 13/14 years old. Chronical said: wow.. just fucking wow. Damn, ishida. Happy ending is actually rare in a series full of horror and tragedy, so I find it weird how some people are surprise by this outcome. If you are reading a dark tone story in most cases there are two types of ending, either a dark hopeless/sad ending or a bittersweet ending. smh I guess people like you haven't watch/read a lot of dark tone series. |

What in the hell...? Did I just see Ken, the Arima killer, while fighting with a full kakuja, get off-panel'd by Suzuya and that one guy? Excuse me? I knew Ishida was horrible with strength consistencies, but this is a whole new level. Or Arima was always the strongest. That aside, I doubt this is the ending, it's way too shitty. Always fun to read the same post from clueless kiddies: ''Wooow, how dark and realistic, Ishida is a genius, this isn't a Shounen, guys''. Though, as usual, the fan-favorite eye candy character doesn't have a scratch on her. How dark and realistic. I'm not sure what else to say, except this isn't the end. He can milk this for way longer - hell, he can make a part 3, where Ken is an investigator again with yet another new name and start the ''genius'' mirroring again. If, by chance, this really is the end: what a goddamn downgrade from the original TG. I'll keep my rating 'till something is confirmed. Cannot believe I used to like this more than AoT... |

Kja95 said: People don't want to understand that this is a tragedy story and not a shonen manga I swear it lately started to be shonen like and I was about to drop it I read Tokyo ghoul for something like this and if I complain about something it would be because the fight went off screen nothing else What happened to kaneki here is the same as what happened at the end of the prequel manga and that's smart from ishida As long as there is a sequel it is the best surprising chapter it is the worst if there is no sequel and that's obviously not true 10/10 chapter and looking forward to the last conclusive mangaka and don't worry it will have a happy ending with out doubt -_- You see these are the comments that annoy me the most, people can think this is the deepest shit since slice bread, I don't care that is there opinion, but when you say shit like this, it just shows that you don't know what you are talking about. I was expecting a typical happy ending, kaneki defeating suzuya and hanabe and running away with touka, hinami and the others, but no. I know that this can't be the end, with so many characters unresolved, so I look forward to the third series. (unless ishida wants to leave us with a cheap plot twist ending...) -_- this is what I'm talking about, tokyo ghoulre is getting praise for following the typical formula for a dark story. It seems this chapter again either like or dislike it remembers me of the splitting between fans about last chapter of Tokyo ghoul years ago.... I liked it pretty much too you know loool It's not like I love the dark and sad ending s I want more than any one to see hinami kaneki touka and the whole antiku ghouls live happily and gain their rights that's what I wish one day to see But i'd like to know what in your concept was bad in this chapter is it the idea of a gloomy ending or the idea of being defeated How did you prefer the chapter to go ?? if you check my profile you will see I watched tons of shonen anime which got me sick of the same expected routine of the protagonist always win and no one dies I picked up TG because it was unique for me Every thing is unexpected the world in which you don't know what's right and what's wrong the right to survive and the right to protect , the right to blend in the community the sympathy I felt for both humans and ghouls and the struggling in life so many emotions I feel when I read and that's what make me happy about TG Like I said the story didn't end and there is a third manga so what's wrong about being defeated as long as this is not the end ??!! What's wrong about getting out of the same expected routine the ghouls will get their rights in the end live together with humans happily and the story will have a satisfying end eventually Anyway I understand that everyone has his own taste though so I respect the other opinion.... It's just that I can't understand you at all ^_^ |

It seems Ishida had planned everything... maybe. Just see his twitter page. You might find some clue. He put Saiko's pic as his header. And in that pic, you'll notice there is Scarecrow silhouette. I think the 3rd part would explore Hide's group... from Hide's POV... maybe. I actually really excited with this development. Might be one of my fav chapter. |
